This past weekend, Direct Pack team members had the opportunity to participate in The Great LA River Cleanup event hosted by FoLAR, Friends of the LA River. We were honored to join our community as volunteers, alongside a local environmental group, to clean up trash and promote environmental education. Here is a digital flip book from the event and we are featured on page 20-21.
We believe it is important for us as individuals to take responsibility for our actions and leave a positive impact on the earth we inhabit. The Great LA River Cleanup event was a great opportunity for us to make an impact on our community.
Our team started bright and early at 9 am on Saturday at Glendale Narrows Riverwalk located in the heart of Los Angeles. After signing in with FoLAR, we set off down the river trail with trash bags in hand ready to make a difference! Direct Pack, with over 80 team members and families, joined forces with other volunteers and collected trash from the riverwalk near Griffith Park.
It was so amazing to see how much trash we could pick up within just a few minutes! We found an old water bottle, soda cans, cigarette butts, and even tennis balls! Cloths and plastic bags were tangled in the vegetation and we were wading in the water being careful not to disturb the nesting birds. It was very eye-opening to see how much trash can accumulate in such a short amount of time in such an urban environment like this. But it also made us realize that there are so many ways we can prevent this kind of waste from happening again in the future!
We are proud to support environmental initiatives and promote sustainable business practices. This is our 5th year sponsoring The Great LA River Cleanup event and participating in an environmental cause like this; it’s just one example of how we continue to promote sustainable practices and recycled packaging solutions in our full circle business model.
