Direct Pack is celebrating the first one million pounds of post-consumer recycled thermoforms processed at the Direct Pack Recycling facility and fully utilized in its extrusion and thermoforming manufacturing for finished PET products.
Acquired in February 2020, Direct Pack Recycling has a capacity to recycle 20,000 tons of PET plastic per year – and not only bottles but also mixed thermoformed PET containers. Our facility allows us to embrace a full circle manufacturing process, and deliver affordable, custom packaging solutions, while also reducing waste and improving our overall impact on the environment.
DPI has built personal relationships with six west coast MRFs (Material Recovery Facilities), from whom we source bales of mixed post-consumer recycled PET thermoforms.
We are working closely with a number of our berry and produce customers on recovering their used packaging and including it in the production of their new containers. Our customers’ / partners’ PET thermoforms are not garbage, but a valuable infinite resource.
“We continue to expand our MRF relationships for increased flow of post-consumer PET thermoforms” says Craig Snedden, President of Direct Pack, Inc. “We continue to work closely with our customers, retailers and consumers on the rapid growing value of PET thermoforms and the importance of everyone doing their part to support the recycling chain”.
