At DPI , we design customize packaging from five key resins and materials.
 
Polyethylene terphthalate and most commonly abbreviated to PET, PETE. This is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food, liquid containers and thermoforming applications. PET can be semi-rigid to rigid, depending on its thickness, and is very lightweight. It is strong, impact-resistant and is naturally colorless with high transparency. Most importantly it can be recycled!
This resin is great for cold food applications - salads, sandwiches and fruit.

Great for cold food up to 135F degrees - salads and sandwiches with the advantage of being recycled material. 
PLA from Natureworks is a 100% compostable resin which can fully compost above 60C in an industrial composting facility. Biodegradable plastics are plastics that will decompose in a natural aerobic (composting) and anaerobic (landfill) environments.
Use this resin for cold food not above 105F degrees - great for all produce items and refrigerated food products. 
Bagasse is the fibrous residue remaining after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed post juice extraction, and is currently used as a renewable resource in the manufacture of fiber products. We use it to create innovative, great looking biodegradable food containers.
This material is great for hot, oil based food products.
 
Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer. Food containers made from
PP are perfect for the microwave, won't melt in the dishwasher, and won't melt during the industrial hot filling process, making it a viable choice to keep your to-go orders HOT! Polypropylene is commonly recycled, and has the number "5" as its resin identification code.
This resin is great for hot, oil based food products. |
